Wilos project orchestration software

One of the interesting opportunities created by rendering a process using EPF Composer is the ability to manipulate process elements in an orchestration engine. EPFC uses a standardized XMI meta-model to store process data, which makes it possible to write software that manipulates it - or chunks of it.

Blah blah blah. What does this really mean?

Well, it means that you can write software that reads up the process meta-data and converts it into a stack of tasks that need to be performed by people (assigned to roles) that deliver products. A task management application, if you like.

The current buzzword that applies to this is process enactment.

One such application - Wilos - has already been developed by a group of students in France. Wilos is an open source project, so you can download for free. The project is still in the early stages of development but from what I have seen after installing and running a recent build, it looks like a very promising concept.

It's worth a look.
